Bastards
Bastards are Catalan most homegrown PunkReggaeParty, among other things because there aren’t many projects on the scene that pick up the legacy initiated by The Clash when it comes to bringing the cadences and spirit of the West Indies into the school of punk rock. Few are as devoted as Bastards and, without a doubt, no one in Catalunya does it with the class and style that these Vallès natives bring to the table. Born in 2019 in the Catalan region of El Vallès, Bastards have never had a fixed line-up, and the core members have always surrounded themselves with Catalan and Basque musicians from bands like The Anti-Patiks, Batec, Serpent, Violets, Família Fracàs, Garratz, Never Surrender, Zeker, Encefalika FM and Código Neurótico.
In 2019 they debuted with two self-released digital singles, “Mira on trepitges” and “Escolta’m bé”. Shortly after, in 2020, they released their first full-length album, 'Arrels, Lluita i Punk Rock' (Tropical Riot Music, 2020), a ten-track record where punk, reggae and ska blend naturally. The album was very well received by both the public and the critics, thanks to its originality and its fusion of styles.
In November 2021 their second full-length album arrived, 'A tort i a dret' (Tropical Riot Music, 2021), released digitally. This time, the band leaned towards a more punk-rock sound, without abandoning the skatalitic touches that characterise their sonic universe.
In December 2022, Bastards took another step in their evolution and released a single in Basque, the fruit of their collaboration with musician friends from the Basque Country, reinforcing the bond between Vallès and Basque punkrockers.
In the summer of 2025 the project urgently recorded six new tracks, released in December 2025 as a 12” vinyl. 'Passat combatiu, futur desconegut is an album born almost by accident, recorded in just five days and driven by one of those overwhelming bursts of motivation. It’s a raw, unadorned work that shoots straight at your gut, with lyrics evoking a rather bleak future swallowed by this new digital normality, surveillance, and a suffocating political class. There’s no room for ballads, love or hope in Passat combatiu, futur desconegut: this is no future as a flag, this is real, street-level PunkReggaeParty sung in Catalan.
And beyond the great news that Bastards haven’t laid down their instruments, the release of 'Passat combatiu, futur desconegut' brings another reason to celebrate: to mark this new record, Bastards will take to the stage for the first time in 2026 to present their entire discography.
